Read Them!

I believe that everyone needs to take time to stop and read our country’s founding documents.  The politicians in Washington D.C. sure have not taken the time,  the closest a majority of them (read Democrats) have probably come to to the Constitution is when they wipe their fundament with it.

When I enlisted into the Army I took an oath to “defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, both foreign and domestic.” But when raised my hand I really had no idea what was in the constitution.  If this country is to survive, EVERYONE needs to know what our founding fathers intended for it.  A copy of the founding documents can be purchased for around $3.00 or the Heritage foundation will send you a free one.

What Happened?

So the American public was told they would have 48 hours to read the stimulus plan before the Senate would vote on it.  So what happened?   

The final version of the bill was made available just before midnight on Thursday night, with voting beginning at approximately 5:30 pm Friday.  That’s roughly 18 hours.  The final Stimulus bill was 1,071 pages; one would have to read just over 1 page per minute for the 18 hours that it was made available.  That leaves no time to call your senator with objections, if they would even take our calls. 

Why was there such a rush to get this bill passed?  Well, for one the Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, had to leave at 6:00 pm for a eight day trip to Europe.  But I think that the democrats wanted to keep the public in the dark, that way they could pass their socialist agenda without opposition.

I’ve learned that if we don’t take an active role in our Government now, there will come a time when we no longer have an opportunity to.
